EK Squash 2020 brings top squash player Gregory Gaultier to Eindhoven

Tickets sales for the EK country teams has started

Europe’s largest squash tournament is coming to the Netherlands in 2020. Europe’s players will head off against each other in teams during the week of 29 April to 2 May. The schedule of the first matches has already been set and ticket sales have begun.The corona virus could throw a spanner in the works, but squash enthusiasts will be refunded the ticket purchase price if the event is canceled.

Top players announced

More than 200 participants from 20 different countries will travel to Eindhoven the last week of April. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play for the European championship title in that week.  Gregory Gaultier will come out for the French team. The “French General” is the former number 1 player in the world. Now that he is fully recovered from a knee injury, expectations for this tournament are running high. From the United Kingdom, Declan James will be taking part and Joel Makin will represent Wales. Makin is the number 6 player in the world and the two together have played more than 200 tournaments. The Dutch team will be announced mid-March. In any case, the number 1 women’s player for the Netherlands, Milou van der Heijden, will be coming out for our country. The Dutch women will play on Wednesday and Thursday at 17:00 on the Centre Court in the Klokgebouw, where a special glass court will be constructed.

An event for everyone

During the event various activities will be organised to attract an even broader audience for the sport. Tickets sales started

Tickets went on sale at the end of February. The match schedule is published here. The matches held at Squashtime Eindhoven are open to the public free of charge. Tickets for the matched in the Klokgebouw can be purchased via Ticketmaster. Match days for the semi-finals and finals are selling out quickly, in two weeks’ time more 35% of the tickets have already been sold. If the Euro Squash 2020 cannot go ahead because of the corona virus, the purchase amount will be refunded.
